October is Energy Awareness Month!

The Frederick Board of County Commissioners proclaimed October 2010 to be Energy Awareness Month in Frederick County and the Office of Environmental Sustainability (OES) has planned a number of initiatives and events for county employees and the community. Energy Awareness Month is an opportunity to highlight the County's progress and achievements in meeting its goal to reduce consumption of non-renewable energy by 50% in fifteen years and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 25% by 2025.
We're finding ways to ... save fuel, reduce emissions, switch off to save, and power down!
During the month of October, look for weekly emails from OES with tips, visit our rotating display in the lobby of Winchester Hall, attend a community event (see below), and look out for a few energy-related surprises, all based on our four weekly themes:
Weekly Themes:
October 04 – 08: Save Fuel
October 11 – 15: Reduce Emissions
October 18 – 22: Switch Off to Save
October 25 – 29:Power Down
