Catoctin Starts some Nature Programs!

This week there are a few nature programs scheduled for those who have pre registered at These individuals will have a sneak peak preview of what the nature center has to offer. If you are interested, contact the main Parks and Recreation Office to register at 301-600-1646.
Also, if you want to have your birthday party at Catoctin this Spring, call our main office and find out how you can make your child's birthday and educational one of a kind event.

Looking For Volunteers!

Frederick County Parks and Recreation is actively looking for qualified volunteers who would be willing to assist with specific duties at Catoctin Creek Nature Center. From Animal Care to Program Assistance, volunteers will play an intricate part of the operations at the new Nature Center. If you are interested please contact Brian Campbell at 301-600-2050 to receive an application and schedule an interview.

Unpacking, Setting Up, Assembling...

Nature Center staff have been working hard to prepare each room of the Catoctin Creek Nature Center for the upcoming Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, which is scheduled for February 17th at 1 pm. Please dont miss this fantastic day as we all celebrate the opportunity to education and explore nature together. New Pictures of Catoctin Creek!

Ribbon Cutting Date and Time Announced

The date is official, February 17th at 1 pm the newest Nature Center in Frederick County will have its "Ribbon Cutting" ceremony. Along with the ceremony a "FREE" nature program will be offered to any children attending the ceremony. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to Desire Macinnes at 301-600-2391. Staff have been working very hard to get every room and area ready for this momentous occasion.

Ribbon Cutting Coming Soon!

With most of the construction now complete Frederick County staff and volunteers have been helping prepare the educational spaces for the programs this spring. It also looks as though a mid-February Ribbon cutting is highly likely. Stay tuned to this blog in the coming week for more information!
