including one buck were observed beyond the tree line from the Nature Center

Frederick County Nature Council (FCNC)
Frederick County Nature Council is a non-profit group of volunteers providing support and advocacy for Fountain Rock Park and Catoctin Creek Nature Center by offering nature oriented programs and activities for all citizens of Frederick County, MD.

2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Fountain Rock Nature Center
Have you ever found an injured or orphaned animal and wondered what to do with it? Will a mother bird really abandon her baby bird if a human touches it? Come to Fountain Rock Nature Center and visit Dr. Barbara Stastny, DVM of Opossum Pike Veterinary Clinic to answer all your wildlife emergency questions!

Allow our experienced naturalists to enrich your child's studies through a multi-disciplinary approach using nature as a focus. There will be separate lessons for younger and older home schoolers with a group activity at the end. Parents are encouraged to attend, but are also required to register.

Whistle Pig-Wake Up!
Did the groundhog see its shadow today? We'll learn all about this burrowing dweller and find out if it can really forecast when spring arrives. We'll make a fun groundhog craft and go on a walk in search of this sleeping rodent.

The Tri-State- Astronomers Club www.TriStateAstronomers.org and our staff naturalist will be on hand to lead a night of star gazing and marsh mellow roasting program you won’t want to miss. Frederick County Public Schools Holidays are coming up. Are you looking for something fun for your kids to do on their day off from school? Our NO SCHOOL-ANIMALS RULE program offers a fun filled day of live animal interactions, games, crafts and much more.
