Have fun taking care of and interacting with our Nature Center animals! Help check the health of our animals, add mulch to their terrariums, clean their tanks, feed them, refresh their water, and learn some neat animal facts. Wear old clothes.

YOUTH LEARN TO FLY FISH COURSE

Ages 10 and up
This Saturday Potomac Valley Fly Fishers in coordination with the Frederick County Parks and Recreation Division will be offering a free one day youth learn to fly fish course at Catoctin Creek Park. This course is open for ages 10 and up with an adult. Students will learn ways to successfully fish streams or wide open lakes. Campfire: Night Insect Hunt     #15119

FREE SATURDAY AFTERNOON HERP WALK

We are pleased to announce that this Saturday July 14th Wayne Hildebrand the Maryland Amphibian and Reptile Atlas Frederick County Coordinator will be leading a HERP Walk at Catoctin Creek Park on Saturday. We will have fun exploring our park in search of turtles, snakes, reptiles, frogs, toads, and more. Annual Butterfly Count    
SATURDAY July 7th, 2012 - " Annual Butterfly Count at Fountain Rock Nature Center" 2:00 p.m. -3:00pm 
AND SUNDAY July 8, 2012 - "Annual Butterfly Count at Catoctin Creek Nature Center"2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.  
This is an invitation to butterfly lovers of all ages to come and participate in the annual Butterfly Count on Saturday at Fountain Rock Nature Center and Sunday at Catoctin Creek Nature Center! You don't have to be an expert. Nets are provided! The butterfly count is a free program made possible by the Frederick County Nature Council.

Catoctin Creek Nature Center will be closed on July 4th



On Wed. July 4th  Catoctin Creek Nature Center will be closed for the Fourth of July Holiday. The park grounds will be open from 8am-6pm. The nature center will re-open on Thursday July 5th at noon.

Power outage update At catoctin creek

The nature center at catoctin creek still does not have power and may not have it until Thursday morning. Camps have been cancelled for the week and participants have the option of transferring if they wish to another county day camp.

Day one of nature camp cancelled

The first day of nature camp this week (July 2) has been cancelled due to the power outage at catoctin creek nature center. The facility has been without power since a storm on Friday night. Please stay tuned for more updates.
