This Blog is dedicated to the enthusiasm surrounding the newest Frederick County Nature Center. Opened in February 2011, the center is an environmentally-friendly building situated on 139 acres along beautiful Catoctin Creek. Come visit and walk the trails, play a tune on the musical garden, enjoy the creek, explore the playground and visit the exhibits in the Nature Center.

Volunteers Still Needed!
When: Saturday, Jan 26, 11:00 am -3:00 pm Where: Catoctin Creek Nature Center & Park in Middletown, MD Information: Please call # 301-600-2050 Ages: 8 y.o. and up
On Sat. Jan 26th we will be conducting a survey of macro-invertebrates, tiny freshwater insects found in Catoctin Creek. Volunteers are needed to help collect, sort, and identify macro-invertebrates. Volunteers also are needed to assist with water sampling up to 1-2 feet deep. Creek temperatures will be very chilly.
Please remember to dress for the weather. All volunteers are required to wear boots in order to participate in this survey.
