Creek Chubs Club  

This series is designed for little nature lovers! Your child will learn about the natural world through stories, live animals, nature walks, hands-on crafts, and games. Parents are free! Dress appropriately for outdoor activities. This parent/child program will be held on the 2nd and 4th Fridays in September & October (9/11, 9/25, 10/9, 10/23). Choose Session 1 (#6463) or Session 2 (#6464).

Friends with Nature
Come discover nature, wildlife, and the world around you through stories, activities, crafts, songs, and outdoor adventures! Each month will highlight a different type of animal. This parent/child class meets on the following Saturdays: 9/12, 10/10, and 11/14.

Apple Picking Time

With the fall weather, comes the Apple harvest! Learn about this wonderful fruit and how it develops through its life cycle. Sing songs about apples, examine them up close, listen to a magical story about The Little House of Red and finish with an apple print project. This class is a parent/child program.

Children will learn all about animals through puppet shows, animal crafts, games, and interactive live animal presentations. This parent/child class meets on the following Thursdays: 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, and 10/29.

Spiders, Insects and Crabs, Oh My!

In this class, we will learn all about invertebrates (animals without backbones). Using live animal observations, crafts, puppets and stories, children will explore the fascinating world of invertebrates. This parent/child class meets on the following Thursdays: 11/5, 11/12, and 11/19.

Family Campfire



Night Flying Insects Family Campfire

Discover the nocturnal side of the park at our evening campfire! How many fireflies can you count?  Will you see the elusive Luna moth?   Come out and enjoy stories and games.  Take a short night hike before relaxing in front of the campfire.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. 

All Ages.  $4.00 per person.  Children under 3 are free.

CAVING FOR A DAY

Join our experienced naturalist as we explore a local cave!
  Learn about the local geology and history of this hidden wonder.  Bring a water bottle, wear long pants, and be prepared to get a little dirty.  Sturdy close-toed footwear is a must!  Helmets and lights provided.  Cave tour (20 minutes) is mostly walking and stooping.  Cave temp is 54 degrees. 
 Trip will include a 2.5 mile round-trip hike along the C&O Canal.  Meet onsite.
Directions:  Go West on I-70 to Hagerstown.  Take Exit 28, Rte 632 Downsville Pike South for 5.1 miles.  At Downsville, turn left to continue south on Dam #4 Road approximately 1.8 miles to parking area at the Dam.
