This Blog is dedicated to the enthusiasm surrounding the newest Frederick County Nature Center. Opened in February 2011, the center is an environmentally-friendly building situated on 139 acres along beautiful Catoctin Creek. Come visit and walk the trails, play a tune on the musical garden, enjoy the creek, explore the playground and visit the exhibits in the Nature Center.

PURPLE MARTIN COLONY UPDATE
Nest Check #1: On 5/31, our Purple Martin monitor reported the colony looked healthy with 43 out of 48 gourds occupied. 19 gourds had eggs. 2 had only 1 egg, 4 had 6. A total of 79. WOW!
Nest check #2: On 7/26, our monitor reported 102 hatchlings and 36 eggs.
